What you'll learn

The Applied Wisdom for Nonprofits Leadership course covers practices to use on your own and with your team, and with your board to deepen your leadership strength and achieve greater impact.

You will learn eight foundational leadership principles along with tools to immediately apply each principle.

Applied Wisdom for the Nonprofit Sector is classic wisdom that you can rely upon throughout your career, delivered in bite- sized pieces designed to fit easily into your day.

  • How to intentionally shape a powerful culture that is in full alignment with your organization’s core values.

  • Practices to build respect and trust across your nonprofit.

  • Why bad news is good news, and how you can take advantage of it.

  • How to widen your perspective and grow your skill as a strategist.

  • What goes into building a strong infrastructure, and what most inspires donors to fund capacity-building.

  • How to remain agile and maintain clear focus on a core set of priorities.

  • Techniques for moving ideas into action – and managing the consequences.

  • What it means to “own the monkey” – how to empower your employees and hold them accountable.

Jim and Becky Morgan

Applied Wisdom for the Nonprofit Sector was developed by Jim Morgan, shown here with his wife, Becky. Jim is a retired Fortune 500 CEO who turned his career success toward philanthropy. Over the years, he has worked directly with scores of nonprofit leaders, and realized that there was a lack of easily accessible, practical leadership development materials. To fill that need, Jim and his team wrote the book Applied Wisdom for the Nonprofit Sector and developed this online training series. Jim continues to fund this work so there is never any cost to you – other than the time and energy you invest in building your own leadership skills.
